Obverse: The design on the obverse was taken from the Draped Bust dollars minted from 1795 through 1807. It features a right-facing portrait of Liberty designed by Robert Scot. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed at the top, with seven stars to the left and six to the right.
Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the scales, an image found on many trade unit silver rounds. The content "ONE TROY OUNCE" is inscribed above the scales and flanked by sprigs of ivy on either side. Directly below the scales is the mint mark "APM" and immediately below that is the purity of ".999 FINE SILVER". The phrase "SILVER TRADE UNIT" can be found on the outer circle below the inscription containing the purity.
