Australia Kangaroo
The Perth Mint unveiled an all-new Australian Silver Kangaroo coin in 2015. The first year coins were minted in .999 FS and were limited to 300,000. Beginning in 2016, the purity was changed to .9999 FS with an unlimited mintage. The coins are linked to the popular Australian Silver Kookaburra and Australian Silver Koala coins. These coins are bullion products struck on an annual basis by the Perth Mint, with consistent images on the obverse each year and a brand-new design on the reverse with each new year.
Like the Canadian Maple Leaf, the Australian Silver Kangaroo is struck using .9999 FS which is different from almost every other government bullion series. It is the first .9999 pure silver coin ever produced by the Perth Mint. The coins will bear the same $1 (AUD) face value as other silver bullion coins, but boast a greater purity. The coins are considered legal tender in Australia.
