The Collector's Mint

The Collectors Mint, owned by Richard Nelson, was based in Tarzana, California. Although specific dates are hard to establish, the mint was in operation during the 1990's and 2000's and was a division of the Money Company. The mint could do custom work and had in-house artists and engravers able to design and hand-engrave steel dies. The actual minting was performed by two other private mints. The Collector's Mint worked with platinum, gold, gold-filled materials, silver, bronze and copper-nickel and could produce products in a variety of sizes from 1 gram to 5 pounds.

In 2008 in response to the current economic conditions and scarcity of silver bullion coins, Richard Nelson of The Money Company purchased dies to create a silver-based private bartering currency. The dies could be used to produce 1/2 OZ .999 fine silver bullion coins. Any individual could use the dies for at a cost of 1% commission and $2 per round produced. In 1994, The Collector's Mint produced Sealand's first coins.
