Chautauqua Silver Works

Chautauqua Silver Works was founded in 2013 by Ron Kinney. It is based in the western part of New York state. Kinney initially got involved in designing rounds through his local coin shop.  The coin shop had been designing and selling a series of rounds.  When they were looking for ideas for the third round in the series, Kinney came up with and designed it, as well as other rounds, for the coin shop.  When the shop closed, the owners suggested that he continue designing rounds on his own.  That was the impetus for Chautauqua Silver Works. In English, Chautauqua means adult education though art, literature and lectures.

As a designer, Kinney is quite prolific, having designed in excess of 40 rounds. It is a work of passion for him and the final products demonstrate this.  The rounds are beautifully designed with thought-provoking images. They incorporate many intricate and detailed elements, and are perfectly balanced without appearing busy or cluttered. 

Chautauqua has produced several series of rounds that have been well received by collectors.  These series include: Time, Through that Door, Cryptic, Ounce of Prevention, Toxic, and Toxic Too.  There have also been a couple of individual rounds produced such as the STAX the Bull round.  Most of the series have limited mintage of no more than 10,000 of each round.  Some of the earlier rounds were limited to 200.  Each round bears a serial number.  The rounds are produced with .999 Fine Silver and have a proof-like finish.
