Northwest Territorial Mint

As a primary precious metal bullion mint, Northwest Territorial Mint was a leader in the wholesale and retail supply of silver, gold, palladium and platinum precious metal bullion. It minted coins, medals, and medallions for governmental, corporate, and private entities worldwide and was the primary producer of medals for the U.S. Military. The company had offices in Federal Way and Auburn, Washington, but declared bankruptcy on April 1, 2016.

The bankruptcy occurred due to fraud and mismanagement. In 2018, the former President and CEO and the former vault manager of Northwest Territorial Mint were indicted federal felonies resulting from a Ponzi-like scheme that defrauded customers of millions of dollars. Between 2009 and 2017, NWTM customers were defrauded in a variety of ways. Lies were told about shipping times for bullion, money was improperly used to expand the business to other states, and was also used to pay for personal expenses. By at least 2012, the company lacked enough assets to fulfill customer orders and used new customer money to pay off older customers in a Ponzi-like scheme. In total, over 3000 customers paid for orders, or made bullion sales or exchanges, that were either never fulfilled or never refunded. The total loss to these customers was more than $25,000,000 USD.

As a retailer, they were distributors for American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maple Leaf's, Austria Philharmonics, and other government bullion coins. As a result of their close relationship with Pan American Silver Corp., one of the world's largest primary silver producers, they were the exclusive mint for silver bullion bearing that company's renowned silver hammer brand. They also minted their own .999 fine silver bullion available in the 1/2 Oz and 1 Oz sizes as well as bars which were available in a wide range of sizes starting at 5 grams up to 100 ounces. Stagecoach Silver was another line of products that were minted by NWTM. Billed as portable and tradeable, each .999-fine silver bar or round was scored into four pieces, giving them the potential to be split up should the need arise.
