Olde New England Mint

The Olde New England Mint was a private mint operating in the early to mid 1980's based in Wilton, Connecticut. It was founded by Joseph England and began operations in 1981. The mint focused primarily on collector pieces and often incorporated them with First Day covers. It produced high quality products in both in gold and silver. The mint ceased operations in 1987.

Occasionally the mint produced rounds commemorating events, but throughout its existence it is best known for the Double eagle replicas minted in gold and silver. The 1 Oz silver double eagle replicas were minted from 1982 through 1987. They were made with 1 Oz .999 Fine silver and bear a "proof-like" finish.
