Republic Mint & Refining
Republic Mint & Refining operated out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It began operations in February 1982 and ceased production by November 1983. The history of the mint appears to be mainly associated with the declaration of secession of the Conch Republic from the United States. The only item known to have been produced by this mint is a 1 Oz Conch Republic round featuring the map of the Conch Republic on the obverse and a conch on the reverse. It was minted with .999 Fine Silver. The original cost was $14.95 plus $2 shipping and was limited to 5 per household. Due to the equipment and technical expertise required to produce a silver round, the Republic Mint likely commissioned the production of the round rather than minting it itself.
