The Texas Mint was a small private mint located in Whitney, Texas. The founder was an artist and rancher by the name of Rick Pinner. The mint began in 1998 with the design and production of the Texas 2000 Silver Dollar, commemorating Texas' entry into the new millennium. It was in operation until 2006.
Throughout its existence, The Texas Mint produced Texas dollar rounds for 7 years from 2000 through 2006. Beginning in 2004, they also produced Texas dimes. The dimes appear to have been minted for 3 years, from 2003, 2004, and 2006. Each 1 Oz round or dime depicts someone or something celebrating Texas. The rounds are made with 1 Oz of .999 Fine Silver and the dimes are made with .22 Oz of .999 Fine Silver.
