Very rare round commemorating the second year of the New Orleans Saints football team. The medallion was also issued in aluminum. The mint and the mintage are unknown. Only a handful of these silver rounds remain in existence today.
Obverse: The central image depicts a fleur-de-lix with a superimposed football. Immediately below is a musical score with the phrase "WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHIN' IN". The upper inscription reads "NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA".
Reverse: The reverse features a quarterback throwing a football to a wide receiver. Yard markers can be seen in the background. The fourteen-game schedule is inscribed in between the two football players. The schedule includes the dates and teams that the Saints will play during the season. An upper inscription reads "SAINTS SCHEDULE" while the initials "SFM" and "LAM" are inscribed below the schedule. Eighteen stars decorate the outer rim.
Edge: The edge is reeded except for a smooth surface at the bottom where the purity and content of ".999 F.S." are inscribed.
