2001 1 Oz Highland Mint 9/11 Pentagon Round PF

This round appears to be a part of a set of 6 issued to commemorate 9/11.

Obverse: The central image on the obverse is the Pentagon. Above the Pentagon is the head of an eagle which has the American flag as the background. The word "PENTAGON" is inscribed along the upper edge of the building. Inscriptions on the other edges include "UNITY", "COMPASSION", "LIBERTY", and "JUSTICE". An inscription at the lower edge under the Pentagon reads "SEPT.11,2001 . LEST WE FORGET".

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the last line of the Pledge of Allegiance which states "...ONE NATION / UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE / WITH LIBERTY AND / JUSTICE FOR ALL." The background for the inscription is the American flag. The upper inscription reads "LAND OF THE FREE" while the lower one bears the date "SEPTEMBER 11, 2001". An alternate reverse of the round exists which replaces the date with the inscription "HOME OF THE BRAVE". The weight, purity, and content of "ONE TROY OUNCE 999 FINE SILVER" is micro inscribed below the lower inscription.
